'71 Mach 1
#1
Well, my wife decided she wanted a Mach 1 but it had to be driving. So, you'd have to know my wife to understand this, but she made a deal on this one which had not been run for at least 5 years that we know of. So, get it home, get it going. Lots of rust. Might as well fix it all, right? So now it's going to be a while and she'll be stuck driving the pickup. So, she still wants one to drive and finds a semi-survivor '71 Mustang. No pictures on it yet.

Back to big red (the wife): the mustang has manual drums. I tell her it will hurt her bad knee right in front of the seller. So, she of course makes a deal right in front of me. And of course, it hurts her knee about the 3rd day. Come to find out she really doesn't like driving this body style and buys a '79 z28. Whaddayaknow.

So I now have two. The mustang is bone stock 302. Almost no rust. Documentation from day one. It actually was owned by a little old lady from Pasadena that drove it out to KY 25 years ago and managed to park it in her basement. Interior is 98% (not counting headliner). It could use carpet but seat covers almost look new. It does need paint and headliner and will be getting that done soon. Then I'll sell it. I wasn't planning on it (it has air) but we need a new roof, don't need 5 cars in the driveway and I can't really swing finishing both cars and doing the roof.

Anyway, back to big red (the car):

At the Dr. now getting new pans and frame rails.....
Yes, was red but she's pushing me to paint it a charcoal/dark gray with the black stripes. I admit it would look really good but aren't sports cars by law supposed to be red? As you can see, even though she doesn't want it anymore she doesn't want me to do it the way I think it ought to be. I'm such a lucky guy......

Yeah, the wheels need to go. I have the stock wheels with rings and caps but will probably go with 15" 500s. And no, I didn't approve of my step-son leaning the creeper on the car. He does that on every vehicle but his. Funny, huh?

Thanks, I need all the encouragement I can get. I hope it'll be ready for the power tour this year. I may not get paint on it by then as I use lacquer and it takes some time to cure enough to rub out. Plus living here it usually rains twice a week....once for 3 days and once for 4 days. But the body is straight as it is so I really won't mind driving it like this. You seem to get more attention on one needing paint than one with fresh paint. I guess they think if it looks finished you're stuck-up. Little do they know I'm stuck-up anyway.

Just as long as he used jack stands under it and didnt rely soley on that jack to support the car .... Seen the results of someone that didnt properly support a lifted car and rolled up under it with a creeper..... It was ... creep-ee. Naughty

That's why we have 6 jack stands. If you look you'll see the legs of at least one under the front wheel.
