The starter worked fine when I bought the car 2 weeks ago. The previous owner changed this a few months ago. With the old starter he had trouble staring the car when it was hot. This one did it a Little better. He put heatbandage around the headers. But this is a work of a faulty starter solenoid that didnt Close, so the starter run with the Engine until it cracked. Thats my theory. Will se tomorrow how it goes.

You're not supposed to hit the starter THAT hard! Cripes, now it will never start! Only joking. Looks like you found a problem.

It was actually not that hard
Yes I hope it will be sorted out with the ministarter.

Yes finally, I got the ministarter mounted. The Mach fired up at the first try
Because of the smaller size it was easier to mount, but the thickness of the mounting plates were larger. I hade take away the spring washer on the bolt so it could grab the threads. The other size I used a smaller metric bolt thru with a nut to secure.
I also made new connectors on the Cable.
Next step is use a volt meter to measure if the generator actually charges the battery. The instrument/gauge inside is dead and makes no movment when reving the Engine.

Great news!
Since it works fine, I would replace the bolts with longer bolts and lock washers of the correct size. It's been a while, but the rule of thumb when threading into aluminum is thread engagement should be at least 1.5 or 2 times the bolt diameter. I don't recall exactly which one, shoot for 2 times the bolt diameter. Maybe somebody else can chime in with that info. Get at least SAE grade 5 bolts (three line marks on the top of the bolt head). I like SAE grade 8 (five line marks on the top of the bolt head) but its probably not needed. SAE grade 8 flat and lock washers hold up better than SAE grade 5 in my experience. Just go to your favorite hardware store. Most auto parts stores have a poor selection of general fasteners.

Mike

+1 on thread depth - 1.5 in steel and 2.0 in soft metals.

It never crossed my mind that standard fasteners may not be readily available. Is mail order available? McMaster Carr is a great source for online ordering of general and specialized hardware.
